Limited to two auctions????

Those of you that listed many breeds, did you have multiple listings and were re-listing them every week?

A reminder: It wasn't our choice to leave off full auction support. It wasn't an option and unfortunately won't be for a while. We're just as unhappy as everybody, but we were forced to make some concessions to improve the other areas of the site. We do want to add full auction support back.

Hi Nifty, counting all our poultry, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and guineas we have 25 basic varieties of poultry. On some weeks we had as many as 25 auctions a week, (I'd need to go back and count to be scientific - that's my best guesstimate) with over 500 poultry that's not hard to do... We had blended auctions - for example - our Chocolate Variety Pack which included all our varieties of Marans and was a very popular one and there were others.

Relisting in the old system was so easy for us as we could do a relist and simply update mailing date and quantity. We also built on the relist by cutting and clipping several ads to do customized, specialized, targetted interest listings, like our barnyard specials, etc. We enjoyed being able to share pictures easily and could come up with a variety of listings. I do know you are unhappy with the system. Even if I only had 2 breeds of anything, we don't have enough space in the add to adequately discuss lineage, include photos etc. We are hopeful you will be able to come up with some solutions soon.... As we all know, the heavy hatching season is just around the corner and our farm and other members are so concerned about how we are going to be able to sell our eggs and where. I must admit, I had counted on BYC to be my major link to interested buyers all across the US...During our almost 4 years of participation, we have benefitted from the knowledge on this board and met so many wonderful people and I have lifelong friends that I never would have know. Now that BYC is in a change status, I really don't know what our farm will do with the eggs, which otherwise were going all over the US... I'm a rather thrifty person - one would have to be to support so many birds! but the strong ad section is missing and that was one of the factors in our buying the PPM.... That being said, please don't unmember me, but I thought I'd just take this time to mention this. I'd like to think that I've added to BYC as I've helped others along the way.

very well worded. i agree. thats why i got a gfm. to post more auctions and to try it out before i went and bought the ppm. i now have 5 auctions on ebay. i wasnt able to post eggs for sale on here. i hate ebay.

The limits are not permanent or set in stone. We're just making sure we understand this new system and how it is used.

It's only been up for a few days, please be patient as we work through the process.

Thanks for all of the hard work Nifty, it isn't easy and change is rough for sure. I can see how the current system is going to limit income for many who were counting on it for 2012. Is there any word from this platforms creator or techies as to when auctions could be added? With this new system will we as seller have posts removed if we mention a bird or set of eggs are available when chatting on another thread? I know this was done on the old system to keep the auctions together.

Also I use to read the wanted ads often and sold to many from that board. Can we have that one back again?

Other things are getting easier and smoother. Looking forward to seeing features open up for my iPad.

There is a filter that you can use that is available in every forum of the BST. Just check "Wanted" only if those are the only ads that you want to browse.

i love the BYC and hate to do this but if i can only list 5 open listings at a time YOU HAVE JUST FORCED ME TO SELL MY EGGS ON EBAY i know it was not your wish to leave the auctions of but mabee that should have been looked at more because it was a VALUBLE AND VERRY VERRY INPORTANT PART OF THE BYC as a buyer would you whant to look though a long list of breeds trying to find the one breed your looking for ?? and them not see anny pics because there are WAY TO MANNY BREEDS listed on that listing ?? no you would not and you would simply look on ebay where you can clealy see each breed listed seperatly . As a seller would you whant your buyers to have to hunt through LONG list of breeds or not even look because they think you don't have what they are looking for . then be forced to only have 5 listing

. again i know it was not your wish but it is going to drive away alot of members both sellers and buyers i hate to beet the bush here but we keep getting the felling that this is not a major deal to you but i garentee to those sellers and buyer both this is a MAJOR DEAL can we at leest give you GFM and PPM more listings only giving a GFM 2 listings they can't even list one listing in each section and i know a lot of loyal and outstaning members that need to list more than 2 listing .and by giving the PPM only 5 listing a lot of your PPM became PPM for the eaxtra listing and upload space

just an FYI Im a father of 4 childeren work a full time job and raze chickens full time to help provide for my family times are not easy right now my feed bill is over 180$ a week i MUST sell hatching eggs to ofset this i know this is not your problem but by ristricting the # of listings you make it that much harder for me to make ends meet as a paying supporter of the BYC even thought it is a small contrabution it is a contrabution and if you just sweep this under the rug you will be driving me and o lot of other outstanding members away i beg you to reconsider the # of listings you alow your members to list

I absolutely agree with Chook and banjoe - the auction section should have been given more thought, horrible new set-up!!!! For many byc was a place to earn feed $ and extra income and now unfortunately many are and will be looking for other places to post. I too will be posting on other sites as well as ebay. (though I'm sure the other sell/auction sites thank you!) As a buyer I sure don't want to have to search thru someones "list" for what I am looking for, it's bad enough there is all these extra very unneeded ads and clips all over the place to deal with and then you want buyers to have to search thru lists???? Definitely not buyer/seller friendly at all. I think many who have a gfm or ppm have it because they used the auction area, now with the limit why even have it??? Not worth the $$. A very disappointing new BYC.

Just asking, why couldn't the auction continue the way it was setup? I do not understand changing it....

I have 20+ breeds of chickens. I use more than 50 pounds of feed daily. I get about half a bucket of eggs daily. So four or five auctions are not going to feed my flock. Maybe you can fix this situation at some point, but by then I will have either sold my flock , eaten them, or found some other place to sell eggs. I am so depressed, because I loved BYC and now ...idk what to do.:'(

I completely understand everyones sadness and grief over this huge change...Im sure Rob and all the mods are feeling it too because of us and our gripes....Do we have room to gripe? Its not our site..We didnt create it from the get go..We have just been blessed and spoiled by the old BYC system..Unfortunately, it HAD to expand..upgrade...and in the wake lose one of the best features it had...I for one am deeply saddened by it BUT Rob and all the mods keep saying it will change and they are working to fix things like they were on the auctions. Will it be exactly the same??? DONT COUNT IT. Which means...start figuring out what you can do to be able to afford what you do have and be patient. If that means going elsewhere...and I know many have already, then so be it..i didnt enter into chickens to get rich...I did it for the love of poultry..I did, on the other hand learn how to make my chickens pay for their feed,.through selling eggs on BYC...Again,I had been blessed to have this site provide that for me...if I didnt sell another egg again could I afford what I have? Yes, BUT id wean down to make it more affordable...I DONT need 80+ birds I WANT them...Id keep everything that represents hard work and goals and let go of my funky bunches.....

I understand the folks who have tons of breeds and huge feed bills are worried how they are going to afford them? What did you do before BYC? Did you increase all your flocks and suchs after you realized you can sell tons using BYC? ..Until BYC can fix the auctions either wean down the flocks and keep the best of the best..or utilize other places, as much as wed hate to do it. By doing that your feed bills go down..Will you lose profits..yup..but you wont lose everything...I have never met a group so frugal and witty and crafty! You folks can pull a quarter out of a skunks butt! I love it! Im sure this is all temporary..will it be fixed next week? NOPE..but in the mean time lets leave the mods alone on this matter...maybe not having to answer to us whining constantly about it will free up more time for them to resolve this issue...They are fully aware how everyones feels about it by now...im just as frustrated as everyone else I am not bashing anyone so dont rip into me...what did you do before BYC and its auctions? You survived...go back to survival mode until this can be fixed...soon...I hope..
