Limon hurt her leg

Hello all,

I'm not sure how it happened honestly. Limon is an indoor duck (not by choice). I think she caught a foot on a table and tripped. She runs into things sometimes, which is normal for her. Today, she fell on her stomach amd started flapping hard. She tried to get up and fell again. It's been 3 hours and she's still just laying down. She's eating and drinking if we bring her water. I can't see the injury, but she's bled a few drops of blood. She's not putting her full weight on her tight foot. We called the vet immediately and she's going in tomorrow.

Limon is about 9 months old, weighs 2.1 kilos. She's had 2 respiratory infections but currently is doing well.

It's below freezing outside. We live in Turkey and don't have a car. I'm worried about how Limon will be in the cold weather.

Advice?

Thanks

If she is an indoor duck why are you worried about the freezing weather outside?

What are you feeding her?

Could she have pulled out a feather or broken a toenail? I would look at her beak and tongue also for a sign of blood or injury. It is good that you can take her to a vet for an xray. Place food and water close to her and make sure that she can reach those several times a day. I think ducks need to have a pan of water to rinse their faces too.

How long will it take you to get to the vet once you start your walk there? Do you have a crate you will be carrying her in or will you be bundling her in a towel? Just asking so we can advise how best to keep her warm and comfortable.

We have to take her to the vet tomorrow. In a taxi. It's about a 30 minute trip.

She eats duck crumbles, for layers. She gets a little cucumber each morning and peas every other day. She just finished her poultry vitamins a couple days ago, so we will be getting more.

Ohhh ok. I think she will be fine in the weather while riding in a car.
Is it possible to upload a short video of how she's sitting or trying to walk?

Can you see any wound or deformity in her leg? It could be a bad sprain if not a fracture. Resting the leg and confining in a sling for now might be helpful. I am going to post 2 threads for you to read about what others have done to treat their ducks since I have no experience with ducks:

There's a small wound but we cannot easily see it. thanks for the links
