Hi, all! We got some chicks a week ago, from tractor supply. One chick seemed to be missing a toe. I noticed on my second check of the day for her that she is lifting the affected leg & laying down, which I have never seen her do. She’s the most lively of the bunch. The tractor supply guy told us they were vaccinated. It doesn’t look like bumblefoot to me? But this is also our first chicks ever. The rest of the flock is acting normal.

A week-old chick wouldn't have bumblefoot as I'm assuming they're on paper towels or pine shavings, plus, it would take more than a week.

The missing toe, at that age, should be okay, but if it's favoring that leg, I'd wonder if something happened to it involving more than the toe. Look its leg over to make sure there's nothing wrong with it. I would give them some Poultry Cell water as the vitamins in that will help heal any wounds and help bones and muscles.

It should grow up fine.

Welcome to BYC and congrats on the new chicks!
