Limping chick

Probably not, but if they get grass or any other foods I offer chick grit or grit for their age. I usually put a large piece of grass and sod in my brooders to slowly expose them to dirt. That way they are slowly exposed to some coccidia where they will normally build up a tolerance over time.

Do you have to give them grit with scrambled eggs?
I never have. That's the first treat any chicks I grow out get, at around four weeks.

If it's cold here, they're still in the brooder. If it's summer, they're outside and getting dirt/grit themselves.

I can't bring the clump of dirt in here in the wintertime, and in the summer, they just go outside to get it, but that's a great idea if you're worried about it and can do that!
