I got an order from Ideal poultry about 2 weeks ago. I had 4 chicks that started limping in the first few days. 2 got better, one died and one is still limping, and its been 10 days. She seemed to get around ok, so I left it go to see if it would get better, because it didnt seem to bother her. I was afraid to do anything, because one was not able to walk, and I tried to splint its feet with a bandaid, and it died within hours, not sure if it was my fault or not. She still gets around fine, she just hops on her one foot. Her whole foot looks kinda twisted to me. Almost like its on upside down. Would a curled toe cause this? Im not sure what to look for to diagnose anything, because I'm still pretty new to chickens. I did a few google searches and couldnt find anything that looked similar. Ill try to get pictures of her and add them. Does anyone know what curled toe looks like? and does it cause those symptoms?

Ok heres some pics, she just fell in the waterer,so shes yucky looking, but heres her foot

Be sure and get some vitamins into your chicks. Many leg/toe issues can be related to genetics, but also to vitamin deficiencies. PolyVisol chick vitamins 1-2 drops a day work as well as chick vitamins to add to water at the feed stores.
