Limping Chicken

For a few days now I've had a chicken gone lame, limping around the run and when free ranging,noticed this morning shes a bit worst, she has great color clear eyes she looks in great shape accept the limp, shes eating and drinking but is slow to get to water and feeder I know shes laying because i got 16 eggs out of 16 birds and laying boxes at lowest are a foot off the ground,I've picked her up and every thing seems look okay I'am thinking she must off sprained her leg, setting up a video camera trying to get a shot of here moving, any opinions out there ? ps she will be a year old in may 1st

Does she hold the lame leg up, or does she put weight on it as she limps? Look for any dark spots or swelling on her foot pads, swelling of the joints, and any bruising. Touch her toes to see if they move okay. Sprains are very common. It can take a few weeks of rest to heal. Placing her in a cage inside the coop with food and water can help. If she changes or gets worse, let us know. Was she vaccinated for Mareks disease?

she does both limps with a little pressure on her foot as she walks and holds it up when standing, no i have checked her feet very well no discoloration lumps bumps or bruises I already have her in a cage in view of the the rest of the flock outside sheltered from the weather i will move the cage in coop with rest of flock at night and wait and hope for the best

Sounds like you have a good handle on things. Let us know how she gets along. If you have any B Complex tablets, or chick vitamins, you can dissolve some in her water for a week or two.

What ended up happening with your chicken? Mine will be a year old in Feb and one of my girls is doing the same thing yours did. Did she heal?
