Limping, dirty bum pullet. Possible injury after hawk attack?

If her vent is pulsing, I think you need to help her out. She needs a calm, quiet place and warmth. That could start with an Epsom salt soak, but she also might enjoy a damp towel draped over a heating pad to sit on. Do you have calcium citrate (meant for humans)? I believe that is more readily absorbed than tums. Your girl may be trying to expel something, probably an egg.

I went and bought some tums, crushed it up and gave her a couple small pieces. So does anyone know why her limping went from just a slight limp to a more noticeable one? She has gotten up on the roost every night since the incident but just now when I went to close the ladies in, she was the only one not on the roost, like maybe she couldn't jump up there, even though the first rung is just a foot off the ground and the next is two feet off the ground

My thoughts exactly ... Lice eggs.

Oyster Shells = calcium needed for laying/egg shells
Grit = needed to bring/chew their food

Limping possible sprain, is the leg/feet swollen? Have you checked for bumble foot?

AH, so I need both grit and the shells?
How do I control the lice and their eggs? I gave her and the flock a dust bath of diatameceous earth yesterday evening. She was the only one with the eggs like that.
I was thinking it was a strain, but it is odd to be progessive.. Any way to help her with the strain? She does not have bumblefoot.

Yes, Grit & Oyster Shells in separate dishes.

DE is controversial, I was told/read to use on mites/lice however, now believe it's more a preventative. My notes say for lice - Think there's 2 types, bird lice (attacks the chicken) and deplumbing lice (affects the feathers)

Ivermectin (round, thread gape worms & external parasites) - 1 drop at neck/chicks, 3 drops/bantam, 4 drops lite weight, 5 drops/lrg bird, 6 drops/heavy bird, repeat 14 days, 8wk withdrawal

Depluming - 1oz liquid soap, 2oz sulphur, 1 gal warm water, submerge chicken, spray coop/roosts/nest, remove all shavings.

Let me tag some help on this ....

Yes, those are unmistakably nits. You can use permethrin poultry dusting powder or liquid spray, but it won't kill the eggs. You need to keep repeating the treatment each week until all the lice eggs have hatched and you've killed the adults. You can get children's lice shampoo with spinosad and it may be easier to use than the dusting powder, which I have used and it's very messy and dusty and you need to be careful not to breathe it. There is no egg withdrawal with these treatments.
