is this bumble foot?? Has anyone had this happen? Or know why just 1 toe? Or what i can do to get her better faster?

Update day 4:
So today I think I figured out her issue.

There is a spot under her nail that is red and everytime I gently touched it she made a tiny low pitched squeal, like it hurt. I think around and under her nail became infected but not pus or kernel.

The swelling has decreased aprox 25%. I can feel her toe bone and all joints are moving. Prior to today the tip was swollen and tight, unable to bend the joint at all. I still don't know why the skin peeled off. But it is waterproof now and no broken skin except around the tip by the nail.

Update day 3:
I have been doing as I mentioned below 1 time daily (otherwise it stresses her out) and letting her rest in a dog crate in our garage. Today its like her toe peeled off the icky skin to reveal healthy (?) fresh skin. I have been giving her Metacam for inflammation and started her on baytril 10 % (2ml in 1 pint water) in the water. Hope to reunited her to the flock in a few days. While putting her back in the crate she got away again, ugg and ran all over our garage. she seems to be walking better but hard to tell with a bandage on her toe.

Day 2 update:
She is an escape artist and I am convinced she hates me. I didn't even know they can bite, hiss and dodge a blanket so well. I got some better pictures of her foot. I think it looks a bit better but she still has swelling. Today it was soaked, cleaned, inspected, iodined, Vaselined and rewrapped. I got a mirror for her and she loves to sit in front of it. I gave her 1.5 ml Metacam for inflammation.

Day 1 This is my first injured guinea. I have had chickens for many years but not these awesome creatures.

A couple months ago I posted that I thought my guinea was limping. I checked her foot and leg over but nothing i could tell and have been monitoring.

Today I go out and she is really limping and I can see her large middle toe bleeding and pretty swollen. Omg my heart is breaking!! It took 15 min to catch her even not being able to walk well. She can fly and flap in my face like no other. I am not sure what happened to her.

Soaked her foot in Epsom salt water in a jar. Its not easy to contain a guinea. Scrubbed it as clean as I could. Put hydrogen peroxide on it for 30 sec to make sure I got all the gunk out and debris out. After cleaning it looks like the last 1 inch of her toe is raw. Sprayed it with iodine and let dry. Then put drawing salve on and vet wrapped it. Put her in a dog crate with hopes she will settle down and heal. I plan to redress it twice a day if I can.

Am I doing the right thing? Should I be putting her out in the yard to walk on it and be with the flock ( its winter here)?

All she does is cry out in the crate in the garage. Its so sad. I hope she heals quick.

There may have been some frostbite on the toes, especially if she stepped in some water, and it can look this way. It can take a month or more to see what will happen, but it can be common to lose a toe tip or worse.

Hmm not sure what it is. I have only had to deal with bumblefoot. KNOCK ON WOOD And this does not look like bumblefoot to me 🤔 Sorry I'm not much help lol good luck!!!

I don’t know where she would get water from. All waterers are heated premier 1 and have nipples. We have snow but they don’t go out unless it has melted. All roosts are 2x4 with the 4 side up.

I also thought Guinea were hearty in winter. We have a Guinea from a neighbor that we adopted. He has lived solely outside for 3 yrs in the winter it gets -25 below and has had no frostbite and has all toes.

Well this does not have a happy ending.

Pretty sure her toe nail bed got bumblefoot in it. There are no vets around me that I could take her. The toe was swelling bigger everyday despite meds, soaking and bandageing.

So we decided to try bumble surgery on the black spot under her nail like in the YouTube videos.. Cut 1/4 inch around and it started to bleed. No kernel found. But it kept bleeding for over 1 1/2 hrs. Still no way to stop it. Cornstarch, blood stop, pressure, or caughtery. Unfortunately we decided to cull her. I know we tried what we could but it is still so sad. She was a sweet girl and will be missed.
