Limping Hen not having a fun time.

I have found this morning that one of my hens is limping quite badly. She really can't stand on that well and as a result is sitting down a lot, which is to expected.

She has not cut, no bumble foot and I am not a vet but I had a feel from her toes to the top of her leg and I couldn't feel any broken bone but as I said before, I am no vet. I did pull the leg out and back in very slowly to see if she reacted and she didn't but I did hear a little click.

She is fine otherwise, bright red comb, eating, drinking, she even hobbled out into the garden to free range with the flock but after about 5 mins she sat down in the sun to sore to walk.

I have one that's been that way for about two years, after a coyote attack, except I couldn't even hear a click. I worried for a long time whether I was doing the right thing keeping her alive, but she now seems to be as happy as any other chicken.

You might try a bit of vet wrap to stabilize the fracture or dislocated joint, in case that is what it is and if you can locate it. She will likely heal with a deformity, but at least it might be nonmoving.

Thanks. Do you think I should separate her? She is one of the top hens so doesn't get picked on. Maybe at least section her off to feed her, so she doesn't have to bustle about to get feed.
I went through that link but found nothing on limping hens/ broken legs.

I have a special needs hen with a twisted up leg. She has to shuffle along the ground or flap to where she wants to go, but she doesn't just fine within the flock. I'd let her stay in there - she'll probably hold her own better than you'd think. =)

Not sure if anyone is still following this thread but my hen has gotten much better

She can walk almost perfectly fine again and can get up into the roost at night.
So she is all fixed, maybe she just pulled a muscle.

thanks. No, nothing at all, she did sit under the coop for a whole day so I just put food and water around her so she could heal. Then the next day she was much better and now today all back to normal.
