We have a Buff Polish that is just about a year old and on Monday we noticed that she was limping. She doesn't seem to want to put weight on her left leg. She still gets around, eats, drinks and goes up on the roost at night.

On Tuesday we gave her an epsom salt bath, checked under her foot and didn't see anything. We sprayed it with Vetericyn and it seemed to make her feel better and limp less but by the end of the day she was back to limping like before the bath. Today we gave her another epsom bath and checked again and sprayed it with Vetericyn. Her foot looked good this morning too.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced something similar and can offer any other ideas. Thank you.

My hen also started limping after a fight. Her limp has gotten better but she still doesn't put all of her weight on the leg she sprained.
I gave her a few epsom salt baths and bandaged her leg with some lemongrass for a day or two because I saw a video on it.
Not sure if it made a difference though 🤔

Best of luck!!

Any photos of the hen, her feet, the bottom of them too?

She limped less after you spray the foot with vetericyn?
Relook the foot and leg over for injury.
I can try to take pics later today. She limped less after the epsom baths and Vetericyn. We sprayed the Vetericyn as a precaution in case there was a cut that we couldn't see. Not sure if limping less was because of bath, Vetericyn or just resting for about an hour during all the pampering :)

Also - she can stand with both feet down. It's just when she starts to move that you can see she is avoiding too much pressure on the one leg.

If she's doing better with some rest and extra care, I would lean toward her injuring or spraining the leg somehow.
Some folks restrict activity for most of the day by caging them with their own food/water and let them move about for a short period of time with the flock.
You know your hen best, if she's agreeable with being restricted, then that may help her heal faster.

I had a hen several weeks ago that injured her leg (my dog chased her, I saw the whole thing:(). Anyway, she gimped around, so I supported the leg by wrapping it. Checking the leg and rewrapping as needed. She's not a hen that will bear confinement very well at all and would have likely injured herself further and been very stressed, so I left her to her own devices. She limited her own activity, choosing to hang out mostly in the run instead of roaming the woods with her flock. Another hen that doesn't roam much stayed with her. She's better, is back to roaming, but probably will never walk without a limp. She makes it to the rafters to roost and flies down...all this to say, monitor and use a treatment method that you feel most comfortable with. Sometimes caging is best, sometimes just restricting activity for a portion of the day works...
