I don't understand, so when bacteria starts growing that's what forms the puss pockets that im removing but the ABX will stop anymore from growing, right?????
Part of it is from the bacteria and part is from the immune system trying to attack the bacteria. Not all antibiotics are created equal. That’s why @casportpony asks a bunch of questions when she’s talking about antibiotics. Some antibiotics are better on specific types of infections. The body has to fight the infection and ducks don’t have an enzyme that liquifies the infected area. It’s a lot easier for the body to remove a liquid infection as opposed to a hard solid one. Does that make sense? You are doing the right thing in removing the puss. And doing a freaking fantastic job at it.

But yes the antibiotics will keep more from growing. Anything else I need to add or change @casportpony ?

Unfortunately, sometimes things just don't want to work we would like them to work. Case in point, My Miss Turbo infection has came back, in the same foot, she was 7 days shy of being cleared for her eggs to be eaten again. I am super bummed, as you are too! Like @CayugaJana said these types of infections can take a really long time to heal.

Don't give up, you are doing a great job!!

Aaawwww man that bites, I'm so sorry. I feel your pain and tears. How long did she stay on antibiotics after you thought all of the puss was gone? :hugs

Thank you. January 14 th was her follow up appointment and by January 26 she was on the last day of meds. She was on a strick “no mating” policy which was going to end on April 1st. I think she may have slipped getting out of the pool a couple of weeks ago....it took this long for it to surface. For mine this may never heal and I could be faced with this troublesome foot issues through her life time.

I will find out more on Thursday as to the extent of damage and how much long the heal time will and let you know. You may need a more powerful antibiotic, but I’m not sure where you can get it with a vet prescription.

What did they put miss turbo on?

How is she doing today?
OMG, her foot looks great. It's all squishy now. I felt two spots that may need some work done but I'm not sure yet if the spot near her due claw I guess is what you call it is bumble or her foot. I'm waiting to compare to her other foot. I'm letting her foot rest all this week, just soaking and meds. She is walking so much better. I think because when I started her on her antibiotic I was still learning how to give it and for the first 3 maybe 4 days she only got 500mg a day, not twice a day. I got the capsules that are only 250mg each so I have to give her 4 capsules a day. She don't like that, so anyway I gonna give her the meds an extra 3 days. What dip you guys think????

@onaharley , how is Miss Turbo feeling today?
When you have time. I'd like to all you a couple of questions about your baby....
I know your kinda upset bout her now. All of this takes a toll on all of our hearts, especially our lil ladys that have been through so much and so much pain that we couldn't even imagine what thier going through:hugs:fl:love
