I feed layena laying pellets and provde oyster shell and I am still getting some thin shells. Has any one ever tried liquid calcium as a suppliment?

If you're feeding Layena AND supplementing oyster shell then the calcium is not the problem. Something is preventing the birds from utlizing what is available. Could be they are nearing the end of their lay cycle, could be lack of vitamin D, could be disease related or still something else entirely.

I can rule out end of laying cycle and disease. I'm not sure about vitamin D. How do you suppliment D vitamins?
Thanks

If they're getting plenty of sunlight then they ought to have enough. I've been thinking of trying a little cod liver oil once a week with my birds. I've got four hens that have always laid chronically thin shells and this is about the last idea I can think of before I write them off altogether. In fact I'd have culled them a while ago, but for the fact I don't know which four in the flock are laying them.

It sounds to me to be either a Vit. D or a Phosphorus deficiency.. Other than Layena and oyster shells what else are you feeding and how much?
You can start adding a good Vitamin or Vitamin/ Mineral supplement like Vi-Tal or AgriLabs to there water or you can add Wheat Germ Oil or Cod Liver Oil to there feed.
A good Poultry Supplies Store should have all the supplements I listed a good store is http://www.twincitypoultrysupplies.com/store/
