Hey major thumbs up for Country Hatchery. I just ordered some ducklings from the owner - Dennis Smith. He is a super sweet man and really goes out of his way for customer service. All the ducklings arrived in great shape and with wonderful printed instructions from him all 15 I ordered are still growing like weeds nearly a month later. He made sure to call me the day they were shipped also. I emailed to tell him all went well and he was thrilled. Wish he had some blue orpingtons I would order more!

Ideal is a REALLY good hatchery. I just ordered some chicks and had a TON of questions about the delivery date. I emailed them, and a real person (no automatedness!) actuallly typed me pback. I live very close, and they sell VERY healthy chicks.. rant

does anyone know of any hatcheries in utah, i want to get some chicks but i cant order a min. order for shipping from a hatchery online I'm only looking to take on about four hens so i have to be able to pick up, anyone know of any, particularly in southern or central utah!!!!??????

I wanted to report that I've had a very good experience with Meyer Hatchery's Small Order Program . They will ship as few as 3 chicks at a time with an additional special order charge.

I ordered 4 chicks (2 Delawares and 2 Ameraucanas/Easter Eggers). They were hatched and shipped on Monday (July 7) from the hatchery in Ohio and arrived at my Chicago home the next day (July 8). The package contained a small heated pad to keep them warm, and it appears they also included a bit of gro-gel in the box.

All 4 chicks were healthy and alert and have done great so far.

I know that MyPetChicken.com will also ship small numbers of chicks, too, but I wanted everyone to know about this other option. At the time I was ready to order, only Meyer had the breeds I wanted in stock. Both are Backyard Chickens sponsors, so I'm happy to patronize either.

thank you so much i just looked at Meyer website and i am so excited they have all the breeds i want and they do the special orders, hefty $20.00 fee but well worth it to get exactly what i want, and i dont have to wait till next spring to get chicks at the ifa, Thank you so much.
