litter and bedding in New Canaan

First timer with 4 hens coming in late Sept. What is recommended in CT for litter and bedding?

I am a convert from straw to shavings, so in my experience pine shavings would work for you. Some still like the old style deep litter method, and I have moved away from this as well. I prefer to clean the coop out every X days or weeks or months depending of the number of birds in the coop and its size, than to 'muck' it out once or twice a year. To me that is just not fun in the least. Dry bedding is just more 'comfortable' for me to deal with.

All methods seem to work, and whatever you choose, only need please you and the birds,
