Hi all. My three adorable little babies who hatched out yesterday are looking GREAT! All fluffy.

One black and two yellows. And btw, the black is the blackest chick I have ever seen, really solid black. I just wonder who daddy bird is, probably speckled cochin bantie.

I just had a question. I was just mowing the lawn, so I have lots of mowed grass. Could I put this for litter in with my three chicks?

I have only ever used either hay or pine shavings, but heck, I only have three chicks in there at present, why buy a big bag of pine shavings? However, I could, because there will hopefully be lots more chicks in there soon.

But for today, could I just toss in some grass?

The only thing I could think of that may present a problem (or not) would be the moisture in the grass. Who knows, thought, maybe the heat lamp will dry it out real quick for you.
