Can a wee little roo start crowing so early?

The past couple of days, our little Ancona lets out with this noise that sounds like a squeaky toy that got stepped on. It's kind of cute and kind of sad since we can't have roosters in my neighborhood.

My friends little bantams have started crowing in just under 4 weeks before .. I'm lucky if my LF crow at four MONTHS .. lol

I ended up with 2 Ancona roo's from an order and they both started that sqeaking around the same time (3 weeks). They are 2 1/2 months now and it's almost time to lock them up in the barn. It took a while for them to perfect it so you have a little time. Must be the breed because none of my other roo's I have that age are crowing.

None of mine are so far, guess I should be thankful for that since they're in the house. I do wonder, though, what would happen if I play a mp3 file of a rooster crowing where they can hear it. Think they'd attempt to copy?

My Silver Spangled Hamburg started crowing at around 4 wks. It was so funny to hear it coming form the brooder room. I wonder if the smaller breeds start crowing earlier than the large breed.

Wow, I can just imagine all the different little boy crowing sounds because my Ancona sounds like a sound effect from a cartoon!

It will be fun to see it work on perfecting its little crow until we have to farm him out. I have 2 friends who have plenty of space and chickens. Just to see if they want another roo. If not, I'll post him on Craigslist.

Sad because I'm sure his crow will be much less noisy than the neighbor's 3 rottweilers. Every time they're outside, they fight and it sounds like there is a bloodletting in their back yard. Yes, we're being extra careful with the fencing in and security of our coop!

Too CUTEE!
