I thought I had max'd out with chickens and then all of a sudden BLAMMO! I decided I needed some more babies..I currently have 15,,a mix of brahmas, EE's, orps, and a bantam cochin roo. I have two coops that I built that are both connected with a hoop house between so they can enter in the winter and have a large area to eat, sun (if there's any) and hang out. I also get lots of wood chips from the tree guys and have constructed heating mounds to generate warmth in the winter from the chips (jean-pain mound). My great grandfather had a poultry farm outside of Buffalo. Here in the city since I started raising chickens I have lost them to raccoons, hawk, and fox. The pics show the hoop house, the new quarantine coop I built April-May 2020 and the old coop with pyramidal roof before I moved it. I use as much scavenged and trash picked/demo'd lumber and materials as possible for all my projects. They have a huge yard to spend as much time as they want foraging!
