little giant 9300

There is a gap at one side of the egg turner, I squeezed a small computer fan into that gap blowing away from the eggs. On day 18 when I took the egg turner out I then velcroed the fan to the inside top of the incubator blowing upwards.

do u have the 9300?

I get the newly hatched chicks out of the bator as soon as they are out of the egg. I have the little box to seperate the newest chicks in brooder
400

Im not too sure if i want to add a fan. Im going to rotate the top 180 every day next hatch and take notes. I am very pleased with my hatch rate so far. Im thinking the fan will affect my humidity because i took both red plugs out. I hope some people using the 9300 with a fan will chime in and share their experiences. This9300 is a fairly new design.

Its now day 23. Out of 31 eggs, ive had 25 hatch. 2 died last night. They seemed sickly tostart with. 1 was really big compared to the others and wouldnt stand up. 1 seemed to be taking really short breaths. Not sure what that means. There doesnt seem to be any more movement or chirping inside the bator now. I will probably do an eggtopsy on the 6 that didnt hatch tonight.

I have the 9300 with fan installed it is a box that is attached to the heating element, even with the fan the temperature distribution was not equal across the incubator until I pulled both red plugs. The directions say to remove one at beginning. The humidity has not budged but the humidity in the house is almost the same about 55%, hoping it will drop a bit with evaporation. Only on day three of trying to hatch two dozen shipped eggs, from Florida to Oregon, so I really do not have any results yet.

You've had a great hatch rate, I don't think I would worry about a fan at this point. I found this 9300 with a fan on eBay through Coopsnmore, after my last two failed attempts with my still air cooler bator, I was hoping too increase my odds with the shipped eggs. Silkie chickens seem to be a south east specialty, hard to find anyone with bearded and true colors in my area.
