Little Giant- Egg Turner Info :)- I was right- he got me one he he

The turner will make hatching a little easier. You should heat the bator up for a longer period of time. I always heat mine up for at least a week most of the time two weeks before I put the eggs in. I know that it is holding the temp then. If you are having trouble with your hatches and you know the eggs are good. Check to make sure your temp & humidity are right. Again I never trust one thremometer or hydrometer. I have an above average hatch rate
using the dry method. I keep the humidity between 30 & 40 and the temp between 99 & 101. I use L Gs still air with a turner. Once you get the temp set DO NOT touch the dial. You either love or hate them. Mine I have learned to use.

How sweet and funny!

My husband and I are giving each other a Genesis this Christmas, and not otherwise exchanging gifts to each other (though we each suspect the other of planning to cheat--OK, so I already cheated and got him a Mr. Bento, but that will SAVE us money in the long run, so it doesn't count, right?).

Just a quick note from my own experience..

If you already have eggs going in your LG..

and then try to add the egg turner..

Be prepared for a temperature spike!

That little motor warms things up a bit

The only bators I have ever used are a homemade one that I loved and a sportsman 1502. I have no advice on your turner, but I did want to say that you have a VERY sweet husband for helping your addiction. If my husband EVER bought my anything to help my addiction, I would seriously cry, I would be so happy. Don't get me wrong, I have a great husband. But he in no way, shape, or form would ever become an enabler. Give your hubby a hug for me and tell him that he's awesome!

We got a couple of keepers!!

That's awesome! The turner makes it so much less of a hassle. I got one for my little LG this summer... the "cups" are actually a series of prongs, and you do have to snap them in. They're kind of hard the first time, but you definitely have to make sure they are snapped in good. But the whole thing just sets in the incubator, and there is a little divot for the cord to go through. So easy, and just plug it in!

I hope you're right, and he gets you one!!

I do have the one that Mrs. AK was talking about as well, but this one is the newer type, and it is already put together.

Thanks you guys! Well, I still believe I am right in my assumption however he's obviously not planning to give it to me early

. I was nosey and checked our deposit book thingaling and he took out 44 some dollars yesterday, hmmmm....the turners are 41 something before taxes

lol. Then he took 5 out (probably for mcdonalds).

If he's hiding it where I think he's hiding it, i hope the cold doesnt harm my turner! LOL! *i think he may be hiding it in the back of the jeep! LOL* That or he snuck it in the house this morning while i was sleeping and it's hidden somewhere. I dont have the heart to bring up my assumptions to him, because if im right i dont wanna ruin his "suprise". If im wrong, I'll admit to hiim what i thought and say "SO! now that i THOUGHT that's what you were getting me AND you didnt....i think youshould get me one " he he.

I wouldnt say my hubby is an enabiler....more like a don't want to see wife pouty about loss of any more baby chickies. I had a small batchof silkie mix chicks that developed to hatching but never pipped and after doing some research i am positive it had to do with temp fluctuations and spikes, which didnt help matters with me opening and shutting it to hand turn...i cried and cried. I assisted the last chick, and he lived for about 2 hours, fluffed out and died in my hands, my hubby woke up to get ready for work and came outto see me crying iwth a gorgeous splash purebred (i had the chance of getting purebreds and this one was) in my hands dead....it broke his heart seeing me a mess. (this was end of summer).

So since im getting silkie hatching eggs again, i think he wants me to actually GET babies this time that make it.

When I raised rabbits he was really negitive about it all (they were expensive and got ill very easily so were really expensive medically wise and pedigree wise). I soon got out of them ebcause they were really breaking us and we werent making any profit to help support my hobby. A few months later i got into quails thanks to my cocker spaniel.....but i got them to train with him, but i dont have the heart to ha ha! And now the quails have brought me to chickens, and hubby thinks they're all cute. He even offers ot feed my quails!!!!!

*he's only done it twice but it's the effort and thought that counts*

He doesnt know all the ins and outs of quails, like colors, hatching dates and what not, and i dont thikn he'd ever know where to start to suprise me with ordering hatching eggs or anything like that, but if im right about this turner, that's a very sweet thing of him to do, something he's able to do that is right in theball park of my needs.

I'm even allowed to get a sportsman inc, some day, but boy oh boy are those pricey, we have enough bills right now ha ha! so im the one holding off on that for now evne though i REEAALLLY want one.

My hubby got me the Sportsman 1502 for Christmas... had been saving all summer for it.
love.gif
Of course, he's expecting me to make lots of money hatching out quail and chukars in the Spring.

I love the turners, if nothing more for the fact that all you have to remember is to check the humidity from time to time. I still open it to candle, but otherwise I just set it and forget it. I have a turner like Shelley's for my Hovabator, and all but the smallest eggs fit in there.

awh!!!! Once we get bills settled down (get this laptop paid off) then we'll start saving for our sportsman...*sigh!* That's my dream is to make a profit off the eggs to help pay for my addiction (hatching, chicks, birds)! HE HE!

The only eggs I've found that don't fit in it are the buttons, and some of them would fit!!
