oh I’ll have to check them out... my husband and I went on a 7 hour road trip yesterday to Quebec to pick up Silver Dorking Hatching eggs . They are going in my incubator tonight

Awe that’s awesome. N I see I’m not the only one that will travel great distances for hatching eggs! When the border is open and safe I’m going to Washington to pick up Polish and Silkie hatching eggs. 10 hour drive one way!

My first incubator was a Little Giant. I also have the older Hova-Bators. Now I use them as hatchers. The Newer ones are a little more sophisticated than the older ones I have. My Little Giants are circulated air incubators. My Hova-Bators are still air. I did eventually put fans in them. I made an incubator/hatcher out of a styrofoam cooler. It works great.

Holy-Moly...you are a serious Hatcher! I haven’t slept for a week, worrying over just 2 incubators!

Maybe you could answer a problem I have. I have 4 calibrated hygrometers in my new LG 12300. They all read between two to six degrees off from each other. Would you just rotate the eggs around in he egg turner every couple of days?

You shouldn't have to because that model has a fan to circulate the air. If all of the hygrometers are calibrated they shouldn't be so different. What are they reading? Do you mean thermometers/temperature or hygrometers/humidity? Can you post some pictures?

Holy-Moly...you are a serious Hatcher! I haven’t slept for a week, worrying over just 2 incubators!

I am I must confess. I have a cabinet incubator I incubate in and the styrofoams I use as hatchers.

You shouldn't have to because that model has a fan to circulate the air. If all of the hygrometers are calibrated they shouldn't be so different. What are they reading? Do you mean thermometers/temperature or hygrometers/humidity? Can you post some pictures?

Ok so here are two photos of the hygrometers. With it being a circulating air incubator, this is why I’m so confused. In the pics, all the hygrometers read off. Two read 80% and two read 70% with he salt test. And I’ve obsessively tested hem all probably six-ten times each. Plus I have two digital hygrometers that I salt tested...just to make absolutely sure I was dead on with the humidity. So on each of the hygrometers, I wrote on masking tape what they read, so I know the ones reading 80% are 5% high and the ones reading 70% are 5% low. Seriously going to drive me to a meltdown!

I have some similar hygrometers. Mine didn't agree either. Now I have Humidor Hygrometers. They have been the closest to my digital one. I try to incubate around under 40% and lock-down at around 75%. I have more chicks due to hatch on Tuesday.

The incubators are a bit tricky, but once you get them figured out all will be well. The chicks have amazing tolerance for heat/cool dry/humid conditions. They usually hatch out fine even if things are a little high or a little low. If the temperature runs a little high the chicks will probably hatch a day or two sooner and if it runs a little low they may take a day or two longer to hatch. If the humidity is way to high during incubation the chicks will still probably form but when they go to hatch because of the high humidity the air cells will accumulate water and when the chick internally pips, it can drown so when you open the egg you may find a perfectly formed dead chick.

Ok so a lady I know that hatches a lot said the same as you for under 40% but then she told me 55% for lockdown. Wouldn’t 55% be a little low for lockdown and a concern for shrink-wrapping them? Do you always do 75% for lockdown?
