First one to hatch! I've been a little busy this morning to update, the little guy was giving me a hard time. He woke me up at 5:00 a.m peeping to the high heavens, I checked and saw that he was zipping and didn't think anything of it. When I woke up at 7:00 this morning, he was all out of whack... only half way zipped and stuck to the shell. So, I checked the membrane and he was fine to rescue, 20 minutes later you have a beautiful Silver Laced Wyandotte and one late very late individual. lol I realized that I forgot to fill 2 of the channels in the 9300 because I didn't even see them on lockdown, and that's what caused the low humidity. After helping him, I filled the channels with hot water and now I can see condensation on the windows. Anyways, the other pip has yet to begin zipping and the 9200 has a pip now. Since I'm already late, I'll spend a little time keeping an eye on these guys this morning.
Yay!!!!

So exciting. I feel like I'm there watching!

Are these eggs from your own girls? I can't remember what all you are hatching. What area of KY are you in?

I switched from raising chickens to raising geese the past couple years, foxes or coyotes got my geese last winter so I don't have anything right now. I'm mainly hatching silver and gold laced Wyandottes, with a few Rhode Island reds. I'm in central Kentucky, Mammoth Cave area.

Wyandottes are beautiful! Sorry about your geese. Those dang foxes and coyotes can be a real pain, huh. I had one or the other, or both, get 3 of my roosters earlier this year. Since we built the new coop, I have a trail camera on it, and the only "predator" pics I have gotten was one big possum! And it only came around once. Oh, I do also have a humongous squirrel that comes around almost every morning. I think it just likes getting its picture taken! haha

So surely Pip 2 is out by now???

Yea!!!!! Congrats! I hope mine first attempt is this successful.

Okay. I am so freaked out right now. I just had a major fluctuation in temp. It kept rising till 106.2 then went back down after 30 mins to 102.5 to 103.5. my other thermometer was reading around 105 then Dropped back down to 97. I am so confused. I am waiting for the incutherm and I will just be using that. My eggs are in their and I am just freaking out. What to do?

Is your humidity steady? I know when my humidity starts going down my temps start going up. I add a little room temp water bring even it back out. (Unless I am running a totally dry incubation.)

Can't wait for the update!! Today is day 14 for me so I got to candle and mark air cells. All 36 are still going strong. I have a couple that look a bit behind the others and I have ONE that has an overly large air cell. I placed it over by my sponge to see if that will slow it down and I made a note in my records so come hatch time I can keep an eye on that one in case it doesn't progress well I know it has a higher chance of shrinkwrapping. Four more days to lockdown. I have to live vicariously through your hatch until then...lol Come on chickies!!
