Well the Saturday trip fell through. The person kinda jerked me around, saying they had eggs and would let me know when I could come get them. Didn't hear back Friday or Saturday so I emailed again Saturday evening for status. Well the eggs were spoken for. Not good service in my book. I'm being polite lol but I found more, closer to home, and a sweet young girl, I think trying to make money, so I was pleased to help her out. I got 14 bantam cochin, 4 d'ucccle and 5 polish, all for $25! Got them set tonight, so we'll see what happens in about 21 days!

Just goes to show that everything happens the way it does for a reason. Good luck with the new eggs:)

Day 14 on my eggs! I candled them yesterday, had one infertile, tossed it, and all 13 others looked awesome! Every single one of them was wiggling like crazy! I didn't have movement like that in any of my eggs last batch. I almost didn't want to put them down when I was candling because it was just so cool watching them wiggle around in there :) I'm really starting to feel confident that this batch will turn out much better than my last.

Here's a couple of pics of my one little chick from my first batch. I'm starting to think it may be a girl. She's growing quickly though and has gotten some feathering on her feet :)

Wow, she's adorable!! And good luck with your hatch. Sounds like you have things going in your favor!

So one chick decided to start hatching a day early, woke up to it just starting to pip through the shell. It's only been an hour or so and its already half way out, but I'm seeing blood. Theres drips of blood on the broken shell pieces and there looks like quite a bit on the chick as well. I'm not sure if I should be doing anything, or just leave it be. :(

So I noticed that the chick was completely turned the other way from where he was this morning and that my humidity had dropped. So I ask my husband if he had opened the incubator. WELL, turns out he did, he had taken out the pipped egg, broke a bit of the shell away, and put it back. I was so furious I had to walk out of the room so I wouldnt yell at him. I told him to absolutely not touch my eggs or the incubator while I have them on lockdown. Ughhhhhh!!

Has the bleeding stopped?? If not, I would take a wet cotton ball or paper towel and apply a bit of pressure to the spot that is bleeding. If it started zipping that shortly after it pipped, it probably hit an active vein. Every once in a while a chick will hatch befre it's ready. If the bleeding has stopped and he's still alive and moving I woud wrap a wet paper towel around the back/under the egg and put it back in. That will help the membrane stay moist- hopefully.
