Little Giant Incubator...Digital Thermostat

Ebay has a great selection of thermometers and hygrometers. I was having so many temperature issues that I bought several cheep thermometers of different kinds two came from TSC. Those two were made for hatching and were 5 degrees different. My two good digital weather station thermometers were also several degrees apart. I finally invested in a non-digital one that could be tested. It was perfect then bought a good digital also. So don't assume anything is accurate if you can't test it. Thermometer test - fill glass with coarse ice, put in water to just top of ice and stir with thermometer till temp settles. If should read 32 degrees. Test for hygrometer - http://www.burgessviolins.com/calibration.html

My 2 reliable thermometers said 114 and 118 degrees today. I'm just stunned. I don't think this piece of crap is worth the Styrofoam it's made of. It's 65-70 in the room, always.

The best thing you can do to a Little Giant, if you can't afford to buy a better bator or don't want to build one, is to get a ReptiPro or similar digital reptile thermostat with a remote probe. Something like this:
Top of the line: http://www.reptipro.com/helix-dbs-1000-proportional-thermostat.html
Mid range: http://www.reptipro.com/zoo-med-500r-thermostat-with-probe.html or http://www.petmountain.com/product/...grotherm-humidity-temperature-controller.html
Low end: http://www.reptipro.com/alife-1000-watt-electronic-thermostat-with-probe.html

Insert the probe into the incubator through a slot in the lower shell, just like the turner cord if you have one. Tape or clip it to something at top of egg height if still air, or middle of egg if forced air. Plug the LG power into the remote thermostat and program the remote thermostat. Turn the knob on the LG up so that it is always on, letting the remote thermostat do the switching.

These controllers cost $25-175 but the savings in eggs will help justify it. And you can repurpose it for a brooder or DIY incubator or even a makeshift ICU.

I am very sorry to hear about your eggs.

Mine is the digital still air. I have 2 brinsea octagon 20. But, I was sold eggs that were at different stages of development. I have one with 31 eggs in it and had to use one as a hatcher due to my "who is on lockdown today?" Predicament. I can't see throwing them all out, but assuming it will be necessary, now. It still showed that it was heating and my other 2 thermometers/hygrometers are very reliable. I'm guessing my classroom hatch will have to start all over. Wish I had a Brinsea mini to send to the school instead.
