little giant incubator

I have three still air LGs. Last week and this, I hatched (so far, hatching still going on) 15 standard size chicks,18 ducklings, one gosling and 12 banties.
I do find I probably have to monitor them more? But all in all, I personally believe they are worth the money.
Oh, and the temps do hold well as long as the incubator is in a room where the temperature is pretty steady.

Ok here are a couple pics of the modifications that I made to my LG.

The fan I used is actually the fan out of a computer power supply rather than the one that cools your processor. I used some little plastic spacers to pull the fan out about a half and inch from the styrofoam, and like I said earlier, the fan is pointed so that it blows up toward the styrofoam and away from the eggs.

The modification that I didn't mention earlier is the addition of a larger knob on the temperature adjustment. It made it much easier to make smaller adjustments. I also took a piece of thin hard plastic to make the metered gauge around it.

I use LG and Hova-Bator foam incubators. I agree with auto turner and turbo fan they work fins. I have 6 all together. 2 incubators are for last 3 day only, I don't need the auto turner.

my hatches where awsome like 90 percent when I just put water in and thermomenter but last hatch I bought a digital thermomenter hydro thing and kept messing with it and lost alot of fully developed chicks , so buy it put water and use there cheap thermomentor and its great.

sundance , all the incubators I think are about the same , keep water , heat and turn them . You can get good hatches or bad . On the still air it gets to a 110 at the glass on top and 99.5 at the bottom . add the fan girl . Buy a liner and keep it full of water / 10.00 . you have 5 vent holes in the bottom for air and 2 in the top , keep the top holes plug to keep in the hummidity, your glass should fog up . I have light brahmas , did 2 batches only had 26 of 80 did a third and had 32 of 40 .

LG is the second worst incubator on the market.

The first one is the little 3 egg dome toy "incubator".

LG is for people who suffer from insomnia so they can watch for deadly temperature "spikes" every night . Little Monster (LG) is capable and famous to those 105 to 115 F sudden spikes.

And for people who like to suffer and be miserable.

I'm using a Little Giant incubator with egg turner and I never have a temp spike. I am able to get it to 100 degrees without a problem, and it stays there. I don't have a fan in it, and do need to get a hygrometer today. With all the rain we've had here in NH, I don't need to add any water. My hair determines how much humidity we have in the house

I have 15 eggs in the bator right now, and hope to have new chicks within 19 days.

I have an older hovabator and the temps in it would spike, so I went out and bought this LG and so far love it. They come with a little thermometer, and you will find that it works wonderful. Just be sure to lay the thermometer on top of the eggs. Just follow everyones advice through the different forums and threads and you shouldn't have a problem. Good Luck!!!!

The people who try to adjust the temp during the inc. period are the ones that have the most trouble with temp. spikes. The adjustment knob is small and and very sensitive, requiring very tiny adjustment. Set the temp. a couple of days in advance of setting eggs, get the temp. where you want it, and don't monkey with it. TSC sells a fan kit that just bolts in with clips that hook onto the electricity by the therm. Very simple, and cost me less than $30.
