Little Missy; my rescue hen

One week update~~~ Little Missy jumped over that branch today and she is eating like a horse! It just amazes me what good quality food/lots of it/ and TLC can do! She tried to scratch her head tonite and was able to balance better on one leg. She still has some balance problems but she doesn't look staggering drunk anymore. Very very quiet, not a peep out of her, hopefully that will change too. Here are a few pics of her in her "bedroom".
In the first picture you can see the end of her wings where the feathers are all worn away. She was using her wings to balance, I think she was just too weak to support her own weight..

Shes not a pretty hen by any means, but she is beautiful in my eyes. You can just see her saying: "Thanks Mom for giving me a new life".

P.S. I got home too late to get the other hen, but tomorrow I will be able too.

And this wasn't even intentinal mistreatment...just plain old ignorance and stupidity. He has 2 LF / EE mutts and they are in very very good condition but, I guess this little girl was "junk" so why bother. She would bite him whenever he opened the cage. She never even tried to bite me when I took her out, she somehow knew I was going to help her.

Oh thank you so much for taking her away from her nightmare. I too, think she is beautiful in a special way. Love the story and will subscribe to keep tabs on her, please keep updating. Have a blessed day and please rescue that other hen!

Well, I just came home with the second hen. She is in very good condition believe it or not. Has never socialized with other birds so it will be a long drawn out affair to get her used to others of her kind

I am SO happy about that. I am still trying to figure out what her problems are. When she drinks water she seems to have depth perception troubles reaching the water and then when she sticks her beak in, its too far and snuffles the water out of her nostrils. She also drops alot of food in her water. Her poops ar starting to look like normal chicken poos; more great news, so that means she is digesting her food OK. When she is sitting & standing she appears crooked too, but she does not have a wry neck. She is walking & troting alot more and has no trouble going over the branch. Tomorrow i am going to raise that branch a few inches and see how she does.
She LOVES to be held and snuggle on me.
