We have 5 peacocks all with there year old tails so not very colorful yet, my question is i hear of peoples losing there tails already will minw those there tails at this age to? And we had to move them to a different farm miles away from each other so we are gonna have them locked up till after winter and there prob about 14 months old is this long ebough so they wont run away in thespring?

I am not completely sure I am understanding your questions correctly, but:

If your guys are one year old they shouldn't have train feathers (the colorful ones) yet, they'll just have barred feathers with maybe a few hints of green. So if your boys have feathers that look like "real" train feathers, with eyes, then they are two years old.
And they will start to lose some of their feathers to make way for the beautiful trains they will have next year.

As far as running away, someone else will be able to answer this better than I can, because the guys here are all free ranging.
I would think that after spending the winter indoors they'll have a good idea where the food is and stick around, but it may depend on the size of your property.
