About a month ago, I got two month old chicks to add to my existing two year old flock of 5. The original flock are two black sex links, and three red sex links. They were always fantastic layers, five eggs a week only slowing down during molting (which they did through winter, which I thought was very odd??) Anyways, the chicks are in their own little coop and run inside the flocks run, to slowly integrate. Since I've moved the chicks into the run I have been getting 1 or no eggs from the older girls. What gives? Are these chicks stressing my flock out that much?? Nothing else has changed, except for its spring so days are longer, warmer, nicer etc. Feed, free ranging schedule etc is all the same. How long can I expect the egg drought?
