Live chick in trouble - graphic pics - help!

Thanks so much. Turns out the salt substitute is not required, so I made a homemade solution and am going to give it to the chick right now.

That chick is a miracal chick, even if it doesn't survive. It made it this far, and you have been a miracal worker. I am keeping my fingers crossed for him. Go chicky!!!

Oh my goodness... this little guy just GUZZLED that electrolyte solution! Whenever I took the dropper away, his chirps turned very indignant. He drank about 1.25 CCs and seems hungry for more.

Here he is, with his stuffed puppy in front of him... he sleeps with his head on the puppy. <3

I personally think he is going to make it. You have done a great job taking care of him, and I think the indignant chirps are a good sign. Keep up the good work. Tell the chicky I said hi!=]

WOW....he is looking so much better!!!! You are doing awesome! Looks like the yolk is almost gone, too? I think he was definitely a preemie!!! So, you basically had your own little NICU set up there.

I would not worry about the yolk, it will dry up and fall off when it is ready. Put a baby chick in with him. The other chick will make him more active and give him the will to live.

I would give him awhile before putting another chick in with him. You don't want to take a chance of another chick picking at the yolk. He has a stuffed buddy, he should be fine.
