Live to Butchered?

If I want a 5 lb butchered carcass how heavy does the bird need to be alive 7-9 lbs?

If you read the information posted in the hatchery catalogs, they'll list the expected grow out age and weight, as well as the live wt vs. butchered weight ratio. You should expect about 75% for a processed chicken.
