My CX is just over seven weeks. He is sooo fat, I mean like a contestant on my six hundred pound life fat. I am worried that if I wait too much longer he is going to have a heart attack, I mean he barely moves now. Do you think he will still be two young by the end of next week? This is a pic of him from last week.

TSC batch we got March 20 and they were a week old. Batch #2 we got March 23 and they were 3 days old.

TSC batch will be 8 weeks old May 8, Batch #2 will be 7 weeks old May 11 (counting from 3-23)

I added up all my feed costs today and the total is $253.24 I still have 3 unopened bags, will be opening one of them tomorrow!

We slaughtered 4 today. Live and slaughter weight in pounds and ounces; 8.8/5.10 and 8.8/6 and 6.11/4.13 and 6.11/4.10

We have a total of 21 pounds, 6 ounces of whole chicken.

I should have got a picture before I vacuum sealed it. Kinda wrinkly looking. LOL

He looks ready to me!

We slaughtered more chickens. We slaughtered 10, cut them up, vacuum sealed them and sold for $5 a pound. Boneless breast, thighs, drumsticks and wings. We made $198, almost enough to pay for the feed.

Thursday we slaughtered 15, total weight of cleaned chickens was 76 pounds, 5 ounces for an average weight of 5 pounds, 1 ounce. I cut them up and packaged for the freezer. I canned 13 quarts of backs, necks, liver and hearts for dog food. I simmered the breast bones and canned 17 pints of broth. I turned off the pressure canner last night at 9:06.

We have 15 more to slaughter......will this ever end?? LOL

Today we slaughtered the last 15 chickens!! :wee:wee:wee

Y'all have no idea how happy that makes me!

:ya :clap :ya :clap :ya :clap :ya

When we were done, I looked like Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I had some squirters today and they squirted blood all over me. I always feel so bad when I cut their throat. I say a little prayer over them.

We gave 3 to some neighbors and they were delighted. I'll process the 12 tomorrow.

Wednesday mine were 8 weeks old, I think I should have done them last week end, but Monday, I have friends coming and we are going to do them. I keep going over how I am going to do 15 birds. Mine are huge. I kept them in a coop/run, with adequate bedding and they have done fine, and no real smell.

I might do a few Sunday night, 15 just seems like a lot for one time! Hoping the old adage, "Many hands make light work is true!

If you have help coming, just slaughter them all at one time. Are you going to put them in the freezer as a whole chicken or will you cut them up? Have an ice chest and ice. Ice them down, if you don't get them all cut up, packaged and frozen, there is always tomorrow.
