The 'and usually shouldn't' quote was because every time I sit in the garden with a cake, biscuits or crisps the flock come running and 'beg'. Today they got some malted milk biscuits crumbled up on the grass. The first 6 hens I were given (7 years ago) came with the addage that their favourite treats were steak pie and custard (sometimes together)!
Ridgerunner - I didn't know garlic was harmful. I thought it was a mite deterrent and use it regularly in their water. There is an ACV on Eay with added garlic.
Tara80 - I agree. I use loads of onions and garlic in my cooking too!
I didn't know about raw meat. That opens a few arguments between who gets the out of date boiled ham and bacon; the chickens or the dog.
