Sounds like Leo now has a new reason to live. What a wonderful story! Thank you for sharing it.
2 months ago we had to let our 14 year old australien shepherd Momo go. He was such a great guardin dog, and he took to it naturally, no training involved.
We let him apprentice 2 pups to take over his work, which they are doing great. Mo trained
Miki our 5 year old cattle dog/border collie and Zip our 1 1/2 year old australien shepherd/pit bull mix. We also rescued an adult german shepherd/ lab girl named June but she likes to chase butterflys. Like you we have a secure coop and bring dogs in the house at night.
We knew this was likely mo's last summer, but i still tear up now and again from missing him.
Leo is a treasure!
