Living on a cruise ship full-time - could you?

Not on your life. To me, it's a fate worse then death, to be trapped on a floating city with a bunch of busybodies and no chickens.

even worse...Rich snobby busybodies!

I just went on a cruise and there were way too many people for me. I'd probably get tired of seeing the same people all the time, and not being able to drive anywhere!

I wouldn't mind just buying a boat and living somewhere near the water. I do love the water and my family used to have a boat. We had so many good times on that thing! I don't think I'd want to live on one full time though.

We don't do a lot of vacationing / travel but I'm a HUGE fan of cruises! Going in the off-peak season you can't get a better price for room/board, food, travel, and entertainment. Some of the deals are super ridiculous with how cheap they are. If we lived in Florida we'd probably go on 2-3 a year!

Unfortunately having to travel to go on a cruise really kills the price savings so we do more "staycations"

"The World" is definitely not the demographic which we'd enjoy or fit into, but we definitely love going on cruises... even though we've only been on two: one 4 night cruise to Ensenada for our honeymoon and a 7 night in the Caribbean for our 10 year anniversary: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=5181125

While
on the ship we met a guy who was on his 238'th cruise!!! I think if our kids were out of the house and we had the money my wife would LOVE to cruise all the time.

Here are the Travelocity cruise searches I have bookmarked and drool over all the time (all are sorted by price per night):

All over the world

Mexico (allows us to drive to LA and sail from there so it is cheaper)

Check out those prices! Two people for as low as $34 per night? Our first cruise in 2000 was $200 per person for 4 nights. So, $100 - $150 per day (taxes, tips, etc.) for both of us. I figure a comparable vacation would be:

Decent 3 - 4 star hotel: $80 - $100 per night
Full course meals 3 times a day: $50 - $80 per day
Entertainment: $60 / day
Travel: $40 per day

We love cruises!

I'm another member of the "huge piece of property with a house smack-dab in the middle" club. I'd develop cabin fever and become (more) deranged if I were stuck on a cruise ship for weeks on end.

Id do it. And I'd bring my chickens and pigeons. If I got the money, they ain't gonna tell me no. Besides, my birds are better behaved, crap less and are quieter than 98% of children out there.

Wonder how many of them ladies on that boat would be single?
