Llightening killed our meat chickens! (??)

Wow that stinks! We had a tall pine tree that got hit at our other house, there was a line spiraling down top to bottom and it killed the tree. When it it our electricity flickered and a battery powered game got turned on, other than that nothing in the house got hurt. Sorry your chicken died

I have heard people in the mountains tell of lightening hitting the phone lines, and while the full force of the lightening went into the ground, enough static would come in the lines to blow the phones off the walls and sparks litterally dance around in the kitchen! Apparently it was common too.

I'd move!!!

Lightening has hit plenty of trees around in my lifetime. Sometimes it burns them, and sometimes it just blows the bark off. Weird how it does such different things! I heard on tv that a lightening "bolt" was hotter than the surface of the sun.
