Might want to read up on having a single chick....it can be challenging but there are some tricks.

Thanks Ted! If even one hatches I’ll be thrilled. Better still if I get a couple, I have read until my eyes were basically bleeding lol everyone is weighed and marked and I’ll have to do my best not to be a neurotic head case lol

Good Luck with the hatch, it's tough not being a neurotic head case when it comes to incubation, my first time, I was practically sleeping with the thing. closer it got to hatch day, the more I watched it.

I have one pipped that I can see into the shell, and one more pipped that I can’t... I had a nap, I played cards, I’m driving my husband NUTS

Ok I have THREE PEEPS! A tiny little black Svarthona, a Maran that looks silvery purple almost (very cool). And my yellow mutt peep that is a pure demon. It’s pecking the snot out of the other two??

One more Maran egg Was peeping in its shell earlier, but hasn’t pipped yet. Maybe I’ll get lucky. The other two svarthona eggs were Goo inside and the other two Maran eggs I can’t see inside but haven’t made any sign of life like wiggling etc.

Aww, it looks like you have a little blue Marans! Since the yellow chick hatched first it has just had more time to become curious, and yes, occasionally peck at toes and such while it's trying to figure out what it food at water. It should be ok as long as it doesn't get too bad. I will often turn the light off if I have a chick doing that in my incubator (but I know that's no fun because you want to watch, lol)
