local newspaper anti-chicken editorial

[6chickens in St. Charles]

Am I the only one who suspects they publish these editorials just to get the "commentary" that follows? Its like pushing a red hot button and expecting the scream to follow. I think the editors strategically place things like this just to get people to read the paper. What do you think? :

I agree; some reporter got a bug up his behind about chickens.

My relatives live in those association neighborhoods; there is not enough money in the world to get me to live in one. I own my house and yard, I should be able to do what I like without some committee tsking it.

Listen, I like older folks. My grandparents were great folks. I miss them terribly. The thing is, in these condominium committees and neighborhood associations a lot of the officers seem to be elderly folks who have more free time. Like on a jury. Please don't get me wrong, there are probably lots of seniors on this site, good farm folks, and urban chicken people, but it seems to me that is what you've got there is someone with too much time.

I'm the "backyard chicken raiser" that newspaper originally did a story on, in the spring.

My family decided to allow the story knowing there'd be some negative press about it, but its been 4 months of stewing in their noggins, I guess. Notice the "Editorial Board" didn't even post their names, there's no ownership of the editorial. That's why I suspect it had been their plan, all along, to use this chickens-in-backyards thingie when there's nothing more exciting to print. It seems to get some people all riled up, then at least there's SOMEBODY logging on and reading their paper.

I think it was the people at the paper placing half those stupid anti chicken comments.

What a joke. Trying to say chicken poop fumes causes autism.
