Locating BOSS that won't break the bank

I picked up a 50# bag the other day with other feed stuff and didn't think anything about it. Later I looked at the receipt - $36.99!!! What in the world...it's sunflower seeds for crying out loud!

We are located in NY. We were fortunate to find a local farmer that raises sunflowers. She bags them herself and in 25 pound bags. We paid $15.00 for the 50 pounds.

Knew they were a BUY and we were supporting a local farmer. I would guess it was too much RAIN driving the price up.

Look for a local farmer...perhaps there is one in your area. Regards, Aria

BOSS at our local Agway is currently $28/ 50 lbs bag. Every year pre-winter Agway has a sale on bird feed. This year due to a screwy growing season the surplus harvest and consequent Agway sale will be in November instead of the typical September-ish sale.

They're easy to grow if you have SUN - which we rarely do.

This summer was one of the worst for lack of sun... sucked. We got maybe one week of 80 degree weather + sun and that was it. The rest involved gray skies and constant drizzle with a few good ol' fashioned T-storms thrown in.
