I'd like to have a pair of those long tails you have. I think they're quail. The male has very bright colors. Maybe this spring I can get some if you have them anymore.
Didn't you say you got a white AO? I may be mistaken but if you did, I'm jeolous. I'm hoping to get one.
The babies I have are doing fine. Still waiting for 2 more to hatch. They all had different hatch dates and my bator's temp still isn't stable. This darn weather keeps changing.

I do have some really nice AO's. I'm very proud of them. Fiona was talking up a storm when I went out there earlier. AS soon as she heard me say "Good Morning Ladies" she was out of the coop and chattering a way and did the entire time. I went inside the coop to talk to everybody. It gets noisy when I go in. Mostly because i'm the one that brings the treats. lol I'm going to the farm store today. I just haven't gotten motivated enough yet to go out. lol The man across the street gave us a rooster. I posted a thread about him and send you an email.

I'll go to your site and find the name of those birds I want.

I forgot to answer your question but the color of the American Onagadori that I have are: Whites, Silver Duckwings, Golden Duckwings, and Red Duckwing (Or BBRed they call it), so yup, I have all the colors! Any color other than that are crosses...

And since you have a great friend / customer / breeder, I will let you into a secret. The line that we have is rare. If you ever plan to sell them (as in their offsprings), don't sell them for less than they are worth. Out of ALL the chicks I hatched, I got a few recessive whites that came from "colored" AO's and they are like snow white, head to toe. I thought I will be getting more but I end up didn't so I regret so much selling those recessive whites as I came to learn that those are worth $$$'s! And the folks that bought them was never to be heard of again. Who knows where the line might have gone to...Oh well, I will try my luck again Spring 2010.

* I ONCE got a BLACK, by BLACK, I meant BLACK (head to toe) everywhere and I called around and asked from known breeders of the "American Onagadori"and found out that its considered an "ULTRARARE" mutation to get from this breed, but then rare things never last I guess. Just a few days after announcing it and discussioning it with known breeders and found out that I have gotten one of the "Rarest Mutation" in the decade for this breed; and the mom that hatched that guy out somehow pecked it to death one night and it got me SOOOOOOO tempered up! If only I had known she would do such thing, I would have brought him in and put him on a electric fenced brooder box or something. OMG!!!

Anyways, I am just trying to emphasize how rare it is for us to have this line. Take great care of it and have fun!

I have 38 buttons due on the 25th! First time with quail. I had 85% hatch rate with my first batch of chicken eggs a few months ago. So I'm optimistic.
