Oh they're all so cute!!! I love my babies. They're really sweet and laid back. They don't care if I pick them up and carry them around. My fiance's dad wants me to get rid of the ducks and keep the chickens. I'm considering keeping my two cayugas and then keeping some chickens. We'll have to see!

Can I please just reach in there and pick off the little pieces of egg that are cracked

my poor chick that hatched on Thursday is all alone. I found out the local feed store got in a shipment of chicks so I am going to get her a couple of playmates.

I don't know what happened to the other egg (her sister). I have a few guesses...the eggs were from my hen that was only 24 weeks when she laid those eggs. I only put them in the bator because we got rid of our rooster the same week and we really wanted chicks from them.

my second guess is that my other chick kept getting on that egg in the bator and turned it multiple times.

Anyhow, will it be okay to mix the chick that hatched with a couple more from the feed store?

Oh-so sorry you have a lonely one! Chicks from the feed store should be fine- as long as they are close to the same size

I really thought they where done put I got another pip today. Thats all though. I had take out the remaining 4 eggs because 2 of them had different hatch dates and 2 where a day late. Cleaned the bator and set it up with more eggs. I put the 4 back in. Lo and Behold, I got a pip out of one of them after taking them out for about an hour or two. Don't know if it will hatch or not. IT is actually one that isn't due until tomorrow. We'll see.
