LOCK DOWN!!!! Day 18 to hatch day! Join me!-I HAVE A BABY!!! PICTURES!

Jed- The egg is from our own chickens, a Buff Orpington hen and a Splash Cochin rooster. I'm guessing that if the chick hatches, it will be cream colored with clean legs. The last time we crossed these two chickens we got a cream/white colored chick with clean legs, so this chick will probably have the same result.

Still not much going on right now. Not very much movement anymore. Maybe the chick is resting? I've never had a successful hatch except for when our Buff Orp hen was broody and hatched out 3 chicks. First time I had no idea what I was doing, only had 1 egg and it didn't make it. Second time I knew more of what I was doing but incubator wasn't very good, and now this is my third time and this time I have everything right with the incubator. Naturally, I'm already worried because all of my attempted hatches in an incubator ended the same ways-either early quitters or the egg would reach around day 18 and I would see it wiggling, then it would eventually stop wiggling and never make it to hatch. I'm worried that this egg will do the same thing. It has been wiggling a lot lately, but now seems to be quiet and not wiggling anymore.

I hope the chick is OK!

I am on Day 22 and now the moving & peeping has stopped, tapping and chirping don't seem to do anything....
I may have lost them.

This morning I woke up to a pip and now she hatched! Her name is Ivory.

She has a little tiny tiny bit of "egg poop"/leftover yolk on her butt, but that should dry up and go away quickly.

When I put my hand in, she tried to climb up into it and snuggle.

Some pictures...this is all I have so far. She's still wet and just hatched, so I won't pick her up and everything. I'm gonna let her rest first.

Here's more pictures of Ivory!

It was hard to take them because she kept moving around and trying to snuggle in the palm of my hand.

Thanks! Oh and her name is actually gonna be Ivory.

I thought she would turn out to be white/cream colored, like the Jasmine flower, but the moment I saw her silver/gray/gold color, I thought of Ivory. It seems so much more fit for her. What do you think?

Congrats! I think Ivory is perfect. Getting ready to lock down the bator tonight. Has anyone else had any luck with their hatches?

Thanks Jed! Good luck with your hatch!

I hope your hatch goes alright and you get lots of fuzzy butts!

Right now Ivory is taking a much-needed nap in her brooder box with a hand warmer/sock. She has pecked at her food once and a while, but isn't too interested in it yet, and has taken a few drops of water from my finger. About an hour after she hatched, she had to go on an hour or so long car. I had to bring her with me to my dad's house, and she hatched just in time. Now she must be exhausted! Bit she seems to be getting more energy after taking a long nap.
