I've put my first bunch of eggs on lock down today. Since I am new at this I have my fingers crossed.

31 eggs I hope to get 31 babies in three more days. It doesn't hurt to think positive.

Update!!!!!!!
I put my eggs in lock down today and one is already pipping. Its three days early and its pip is on the small end of the egg. Will this kill it?

Some do survive this and some don't. The key with malpositioned chicks is time. When they pip at the wrong end of the egg they miss the internal pip they would usually do out. They still need the time to absorb the yolk and blood vessels to recede. While it has a pip hole it has oxygen and is able to breathe. You may need to help this chick hatch.
Have a read of this article it has a section on malpositioned chicks and lots of info ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/step-by-step-guide-to-assisted-hatching

Good news it hatched today! Two days early and is healthy and doing great. It was one of my Buff Orpingtons and I have another one doing the same thing.
