Ok how much would you charge for 18 eggs in a flat rate box? The shipping charge was some where in the 28.00 range because I won two of this persons egg auctions. He did give an 8.00 credit after I said something..... I paid 20.00 and feel that was still too much. I am thinking 14.00 at most. I am not cheap or anything like that. I have no problem with paying it. It's just the idea of it. I have paid it and want to know what kind of feedback to give for that. I would really like your opinion. I would not give a neg feedback but would make a point about it if you think it's too much. Good god I shipped a quilt for 15.00 and 18 eggs for 20.00 seems dishonest a little.

If I know I'll be using a flat rate box, say the one that's about $10.35, then I'd charge $12, $10 plus a bit for the actual shipping and an extra bit for Delivery Confirmation. (plus the price of the eggs, of course) There is a large flat rate for about $13, too. That doesn't include the packing materials, though, or the time it takes to pack all the eggs.

Even at 13.00 how much does packing cost 7.00? Seems to me I could get it for a dollar at the dollar store. Doesn't have to be fancy. I will post what they pack it in. Thanks for posting the cost.

I have shipped 2 dozen eggs for $14.00. so I would say $20.00 for 18 eggs is way to much sounds like they are trying to make a profit just in case their eggs don't sell for that much.

I understand making money is hard these days. Heck I suffer too. I sold a cat quilt for only 150.00 they usually go for around 600.00. I put in almost 100.00 in materials alone. I had no choice I had to sell it. I will be darned if I am going to overcharge for shipping just to make a couple of extra bucks. I have been looking at the shipping for eggs here and they are quite reasonable with shipping. Ebay is not. Next time I will just buy a dozen from someone here.

The eggs I bought on ebay were 45.00 for the two auctions. I think it was probably a good deal since 12 are black copper marans. The other 6 are Giant Blue Cochins. Whatever they are. I have no clue...I might not even hatch them out.

The last batch (black Copper Marans) of 6 eggs...only one hatched so if this is so I might get 2 or 3 out of this batch of marans. Please cross your fingers and send some good karma here.

You hit upon one of my biggest pet peeves. I think there are a lot of people trying to make a few bucks off of shipping, even here at BYC. It takes NO EFFORT to charge exact shipping, then charge a buck or two additional for packing supplies if you must. I see so many people selling "free" eggs, just pay $12 shipping. And this for maybe 6 bantam eggs. It probably only costs $6 to ship them.

Ive sold a lot of eggs this year. I have a little postal scale and I charge exact shipping. I think the most I had to charge for shipping was $14.95, and that was shipping 30 eggs across country.

I don't know how people can just charge $10 or $12 or even $15 dollars before they even know where they are going.

Makes me crazy.

Well, the normal size of flat rate USPS box runs about $10, plus $0.70 for delivery confirmation. A normal box is based on weight. For 18 eggs, I would say that would be about 3 pounds.

You can check to see what postage would cost if you go to www.usps.com and click on the calculate postage tab. Enter your zipcode and his zipcode (it will be on his paypal information) and the weight. You can use that as a rough estimate.

As a side note, $20 for shipping is just too much. It doesn't cost that much to ship 18 eggs, no matter what packing materials they use. They are using the shipping to "pad" their profit.

How many pounds do the postal scales go to? I need one that goes at least to 12 pounds.

I use the shipping label in paypal and I select to show the shipping price. Alaska is high like almost 30.00 to ship there. Still it's exactly what it costs. I don't charge for my boxes. I buy wreath boxes at the p.o. here in old town. They do not come cheap. I think they are 3.00 a box. I can't remember might be 4 or 5. I buy them by the dozen and it's been since last year. They are priority boxes. I wonder if they are the only ones they charge for. They look good and do the job.

got a digitial scale in your house? Put it on there~ My hubby does it will all his bags when he flies and they are pretty dead on!

flat rate boxes are free and shipping for 20 bucks ouch! My incubator sent to me was only 9.95
