1/6 remaining of 14 started to pip on the last turn on Day#23! So, is it best to lockdown Day #24, or keep turning the remaining five until Day #25? This is our first hatch, and we want to be successful. Plus, our incubator is set on 39.3’C, and we’re hoping we can lower that by one or two degrees. What’s the recs for temp in lockdown? We already raised the humidity. Thank you, in advance!

Hi Duckhatching mom! where are you located?
When they start pipping (internally, you will hear them peep)or externally you wil see a little star shape in your egg you should definitely stop turning! They are early but maybe because of the temperature.

39.3 degrees celcius sounds very hot for an incubator! I've always been told (and read about it) it should be 37.7 +/- 1 or 37.1 +/- 1 depending on the type of breeder. And it's better to keep it on the cold side because of the risk for birth defects and worse when it's to0 hot. A little cold means later hatching.

I keep my fingers crossed your ducklings will survive!
