Lockdown Day!

Granted, my temps were probably off, but I gave my first hatch until day 25 and then cleaned out the incubator. The last two eggs had live chicks and I cracked the side of one! The incubator was already off and cold. Gah! I was doing an eggtopsy b/c I thought they were late quitters. SO, all I'll say is when you are thinking of giving up, water candle, tap the air end and listen for peeps, and maybe crack a tiny hole in the air end to see if you can see an internal pip that's working...if so put it back!

Alright! I'm definitely going to give them a few extra days since we aren't 110% sure on temp. I'll make sure to check! We're so exicted to see the first pip!

Your thermometer can be reading 99 to 100 but is it Correct?? That's why I said if it is correct they start piping on day 20/and some might hatch before to late on day 20. What DATE did you set these in the incubator??

Hahahaha Thank you! And cancelled plans for tomorrow! We're gonna picnic in the closet. Haha. We peeked into the incubator right as the first one pipped too!

Yep you probably did, it is quite common to hear chirps. That means they are at least internally pipped and breathing air.
