Lockdown Humidity Question... Fill all water reservoirs?

I'm not going to be a huge help because this is my first incubation and I just went into lockdown yesterday. (Amy, will answer & give the best advice)

Because of the advice I got on here, I ran the humidity low throughout the first 18 days. Never higher then 40%, average was 35% and I had a nice decrease in air cells. What were you running over days 1-18? Just something to think about for the next incubation. I'm not sure about your lockdown question. But I just wanted you to know, I know exactly how you feel! I wish you the best of luck and hope you get lots of fluffies!!
Good luck on yours as well. Hope to hear some good news soon!!

ok. We started hatching our eggs late 18 days ago so I figured later this afternoon wouldn't be too bad. more later have to rush to school!

OK. So filled all the valleys with water (lack of terminology, been a Loooooongg day!) then added a cereal bowl full of water with two sponges, still only at 53% not sure how to get it up to 70% or should I wait an hour for it to equalize? The temperature is back up to 99.9 so that's back to where it needs to be. The humidity has me stumped...

Has your hygrometer ever been tested for accuracy? That's an awful lot of water with only a reading of 53%. Are you in a real arid or high elevation?

So many people say they have trouble with humidity, and I just can't imagine it with all that water. Other than a possible faulty hygrometer, does the unit seal tight? Do you have vents open or closed? Are you seeing any condensation anywhere?

We have both very arid conditions and high elevations. We are at 7000 ft. Our typical humidity locally is 10% or less. It has climbed in the last 30 minutes. We are up to 63% now.

Then that would explain ALOT! lol Humidity and high elevations is a pain from what I have read with hatching in high elevations. In the next day or two I am going to test this, but I read on a page about hatching something like cockatoos or something that salt helps up humidity. I have not experimented with it yet, but I think I will this week just for the heck of it.
