Lockdown Humidity Question... Fill all water reservoirs?

I have hot and cool spots in the Brinsea as well. I set the temp to a 99.5 average, then rotate the egg tray every time I add water. I'm still curious to hear if anyone has had success with lower humidity in the Brinseas or RCOMs. Seems like that only works in the styrobators, and the Brinsea users are shooting for 40-45%

@WVduckchick has been using it in her Janoel knockoff, with success and they are plastic, so I know it can work outside of the styros. Brinsea runs so well at 40/45% that I wouldn't see a need to try it in those unless I was having awful hatches and that would just defy the statistics of incubating in a Brinsea

With that being said I would like to find more people outside of the styro bator world that have successful used a dry incubation. Technically SC you run a low humidity incubation at 40-45%, just not dry. My first "dry" incubation last fall was completely dry the first 17 days but my average humidity completely dry was 40%.

Where I live, it stays fairly humid. My Chinese knockoff bator with no water added usually stays around 30-35%. If it dips to 25ish, I'll add an ounce or so of water to one corner.

But remember, I added that reflectix insulation (http://www.reflectixinc.com/basepage.asp?Page=Double+Reflective+Insulation&pageIndex=622) around the outside of mine to better hold the heat. I do think it helped steady my temps and humidity.

I love that!! You can see into it w/o breaking your back. I want one!! LOL Definitely let me know how it goes! I'm (mentally) collecting data on how well the method works in other types of bators.

I'm glad you like! I friggin' love it!! It stays sealed well and it's easy to get into and clean/move things around. It worked great for my last hatch using standard humidity incubation techniques - it holds heat/humidity very well. But I got interested in "dry" incubation and figured I'd try it out - just to find out which works best for me (I live in SC and it stays very humid in this area). So far, everybody looks good and air cells look great! I'm due for lockdown on May 6 and hatch on May 9th
I am also curious about how well this method works in other types of bators. So, anyone that has additional experience or information is welcome to chime in!
