Lockdown Humidity Question... Fill all water reservoirs?

So at what point should I help. One of the Nankin chicks got a 1 inch Sq piece of shell off the end of its shell but it still covered in membrane. Haven't touched it. But it looks like it's drying out....

How long has it been pipped? Also are you seeing the outer membrane or the inner membrane? My thought is don't rush the hatch. As long as the chick is still resting and working then let it do its thing until you're sure it's not going to make it on it's own.

We have 17 eggs that made it to day 18. We had 24. The others either got blood spots or 2 weren't fertilized. Right now, we have 2 chicks hatched and 10 pipped and 2 not doing anything and the rest rolling around and peeping.

Thanks for everyone's help so far!

10 pips at one time... you are going to have an exciting day!!

Videotaped #3 so my son's class can see it too! This is going to be a nerve wracking day as I have lots of meetings so can't miss work. Will be here for lunch though.

We have our first chick!
Yay. Congrats!

If the membrane turns yellowish/brown and leathery, that's when you know it's time to give a little assistance by moistening the membrane and unsticking any glued spots, then returning the chick/egg with a wet paper towel around the backside of the egg to the bator to give them a chance to finish up themselves.

Went home at lunch to check on them. Was greeted by two new faces. One of which was one of the dry stuck babies ( a little bacitracin is great! ). Sad though. The oldest chick got into the shallow dish with water/sponge in it and got stuck and drowned. Removed the bowl, poured the water into the trays below and put the sponge back in.

That's one thing I always recommend against. No open dishes above screen level/at egg level. I ONLY use wet sponges above my screen. Congrats on the new ones, sorry about the other,
