Lockdown Humidity Question

@WVduckchick How are your OEGB eggs looking?

I set 12, only 1 was clear. The 11 made lockdown today, all look great. I think I set them on a Wednesday, so they should start pipping tonight or tomorrow.
I also have a broody OEGB so I’m debating swapping her eggs out for some of the ones in the bator. I haven’t even checked hers, have no idea how many she has, but she has been sitting at least a couple weeks. She’s a great momma. But my original plan was to sell these chicks. I was testing the Brinsea Mini. Uh huh. :p

:lau I haven't had to deal with a broody yet but I probably will next year if any of the OEGB's turn out to be pullets. They are such cute little chicks! They crack me up, I separated them from the LF chicks but they are so much more feisty.

Feisty as chicks, but my adults are the most laid back and sweet of all my birds. Now the mommas can be vicious while protecting their babies, but awesome birds.
What color variety did you hatch? I forgot, sorry. I have silver duckwing, plus super broody Harriett, who is a color mix but looks kinda ginger red-ish

@Rose Quartz make sure you inspect the bottom vent holes of the HovaBator and ensure they aren't blocked by either bits of styrofoam or eggshells (this is common). You can also stick something the same diameter in and roll it around to widen them slightly, I've done that too. What I like to do as well is set out four canning jar rings and put the unit on top of them, so I'm 100% sure that air is going to those vents without obstruction. And don't put something solid on the floor, like paper towels, that will disrupt the airflow over the wells. It's all about airflow.
Ill inspect it next time i pull it out. And stick some rings under it too. I didnt even notice the floor vents until lockdown of the second batch theyre really small i might just wident them too.

Well, she just sends what's laying so I'm not 100% sure. I know she has both Silver & Golden Duckwing, Black, some Mille Fluer, and some other breeding projects. I'm excited to see how they feather out. My little rooster is mixed bantam, but we really love him so I was looking for a few bantam hens to hatch some of his babies. He was a rescue, but he has the absolute best personality & temperament. He's breeding the LF hens but I like the size he is now, I'm really after the bantam size more than anything. I just really love the look of OEGBs.

He’s adorable! :love
I had a serama rooster with his coloring.

Thank you! He has rewarded us for giving him a second chance by being AWESOME! My husband works in an underground coal mine, and one of the guys he works with brought him to us. Anything DH brings home from work is usually iffy at best. :lau

Being from WV, I know exactly what you are saying. :lau

:gig I bet you do! Coal miners are a totally different breed.

We lost one of the bantam chicks. :hit So sad, I know they won't all make it but this one was tough.

I think some of the bantams may be mixed colors, but I don't mind. Ignore the Ameraucana it's just in with the bantams until the tape comes off. They're moving to the brooder outside today! :woot
