Lockdown in 2 days

I wasn't prepared for them to flop around and be so helpless.

Yea I was not either. I'm watching a movie but not really I focus on the chirps. My gf wants to take it out. I told her why I'm not suppose too. I can't wait to see it fluff up. I didn't know how tiny they were.

It is  sad that people are so disconnected from their food.  I think people are becoming more aware with things like backyard flocks...etc. But it is still so sad that all these factory farms and roundup laced foods exist, some people have no idea.

That's where my interest in chickens came from. A quest at healthier living and back to its roots. I am not sure if I can eat them or not...I am sure I will find out this year. But, for the most part I don't eat a lot of meat.

Perfectly natural. I had one chick who positioned himself on another egg. Just perched there trying to see if I would come back. (In the styrobator...hard to see in!)

Ok thanks because this little one has moved all of them around. Yes seems to calm when I check on the chick. My temp went to 97 for a bit hopefully didn't do anything to the rest.

Are you usIng the cooling cycle on a Brinsea? If so, you might want to turn off the cooling cycle at lockdown. You should be fine. Eggs are more forgiving of low temp...heat spike though can kill them.

I use the cooling cycle on my brinsea. One hour a day. It's at 97.5 right now. Simulates the hen getting off the egg and is supposed to strengthen the embryo

Ok. I have a little giant. Temp is at 100 now. What's the highest. 100 or 101?
