Lockdown in 2 days

My boyfriend is a softy too when I have him to the dirty work I don't want to do!  It's okay to have a heart.  Hope the next hatch works out okay for you.

Yea that was not something I wanted to do. Looks like the other small one starting to give up. I don't know what it is. I feel like it's me?. Tomorrow is week 2. And out of 6 I'm going to have 2. Not a good first experience. Thank you I hope my next hatch is better

Oh Noooo.....What's going on with them??? Are they too hot? Not drinking?Vitamins? Feed? Throwing bloody poo?

I don't know. There is 2 that are totally fine. They are way bigger. Eat and drink. The one that died and one who is dying right now would eat but not as much as the others. I did give them vitamins. No bloody poo that I have seen. I don't know.

One of the bigger ones is laying down with the one that looks like is going to die. I've seen the. Do this with the other that passed. They would lay with them. Looks so adorable but sad because I know it's dying. Do they know?

I think they might. I can't remember, did you have to help these hatch? Almost every time I have one that has trouble hatching, it dies later. I don't help them any more. The hardest ones to cull are the fluffy ones. Don't give up, you will learn more what to do and not to do, and it gets better. We all still have problems with hatches. It just comes with the territory

I helped one of them. I don't know. Can they get cocci without going outside. I put a little 2x2 for roost but sanitized it before. I don't think that could of been it. Hopefully was just the weak. Yea hopefully my next hatch goes well. I will be setting eggs today.

Sounds like they were just weak. Usually they will gradually build up a resistance to cocci as the litter in the brooder gets soiled. Healthy chicks are pretty tough once they get started. If you get your incubation and humidity settings down pat, chances are you will start having more and more healthy chicks. It just takes practice

@ Mike...Hows the quality of your feed for the flock layers?  Just trying to think of things that may cause mortality in chicks...

Thanks. Yea I will be trying 35 for humidity. My problem was I had it around 30 or 25 then put it up to 40 the first time. So maybe having it ready this time will make it better.
